May 19, 2007 After the CCSR annual concert on May 5th 2007, Ms Kaihong Liu, a key member of CCSR and a Chinese zither performer, was invited to perform Zither music in a fundraising event sponsored by the Rochester Area Community foundation (RACF) on Saturday May 19. The invitation was extended by Dr. Mark Biernbaum of RACF, who attended our May 5th concert and was very impressed with Kaihong’s Zither performance.
Each year, the Foundation holds an event called "Evening out at Home" where they convene donors at dinner parties all over the city to raise money for their work in the community. This year, they plan live music at each of these dinners. Through the arrangement by Mimi Huang, who is a cellist and a board member of RACF, Kaihong performed at a home at Churchville for the event. All the guests were fascinated by Kaihong’s performance. Most of them heard and saw the Zither instrument the first time. After the performance, Kaihong described the instrument and music to the guests.
Thanks to Kaihong and her husband Richard, who assisted her with the set up of the instrument, for participating in the event. Their contribution to CCSR and the Rochester community is very much appreciated. |
