Chun-Hsin (Cynthia) Liu, 劉淳欣, Biography (April, 2025)

劉淳欣Chun-Hsin (Cynthia) Liu, originally from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, is currently pursuing her DMA degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, where she holds a Graduate Assistantship in Studio Accompanying, Opera Pianist Assistantship in the Voice and Opera Department and studies with Dr. Andrew Harley. Chun-Hsin finished her bachelor degree with distinction in Piano Performance at National Sun Yat-sen University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where she studied with Dr. Chuan-I Huang. Recently, Chun-Hsin received her master’s degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music. During her time at Eastman, Chun-Hsin has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the William and Joycelyn Macy Sloan Scholarship (2021-2022), the Barbara M. H. Koeng Award (2021), Excellence in Accompanying Awards (2022) and first prizes from several piano competitions as both a solo and ensemble pianist. In 2022, Chun-Hsin was one of ten pianists selected to participate in SongStudio, working with Renée Fleming and Hartmut Höll and performing in Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall. Later that year, she was accepted into the Vocal Collaborative Piano Program at the Aspen Music Festival and School.. In 2024, Chun-Hsin returned to SongFest with her duo partner, mezzo- soprano Kyrsten Chambers Jones, as winner of The Graham Johnson Art Song Prize. This May, Chun-Hsin will be receiving a DMA degree in Piano Accompanying and Chamber Music at the Eastman School of Music, and move to Montreal, Canada as a resident artist of McGill University and University of Montreal in August, 2025.
